About the Shropshire & Telford 11 Plus

State grammar provision for Shropshire and Telford is concentrated in Newport, where Adams' Grammar School (boys, with day and boarding places) and Newport Girls' High School both select via the West Midlands Grammar Schools Entrance Test set by GL Assessment. It is two multiple-choice papers covering English, maths, verbal reasoning and non-verbal reasoning, sat in September at the start of Year 6.

Both schools give admissions priority to children living in Telford & Wrekin. Note that Thomas Telford School is a non-selective all-ability school that admits by a separate banding assessment, not the grammar 11+.
